Nkumba University has attracted high caliber staff with a track record of quality research. Some of these include: Prof. Ijuka Kabumba of the School of Social Sciences (SOSS) as well as Assoc. Prof. Wilson Mande, the Deputy Vice Chancellor;
Dr. Miph Musoke of the School of Sciences (SCOS); Prof. Faustino Orach-Meza of SHES; Associate Prof. Grace Kyeyune and Assoc. Prof Michael Mawa both of SOSS.
Both Prof. Eric Edroma and Dr. Musoke of SHES are among the distinguished Ugandan scientists that have received Presidential awards for outstanding contribution in scientific work. The natural research programme under the Presidential Initiative for Malaria Research, where Dr. Miph Musoke is a lead consultant, is housed at SHES. Dr. Musoke is also a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences (Medical Sciences).
The experience of all these staff and several others has been brought to bear upon ongoing research at Nkumba University.
In the course of each academic year, the University sets aside a research fund to facilitate at least 10 research projects from the six Schools of the University. Not only is research budgeted for each year, the University continues to seek other research sponsors.
