Call for Book Chapters 2021

Introduction
At its School Special Higher Degrees Meeting held on the 31st March 2021, the members of Staff of the School of Social Sciences agreed to have a book publication by June this Semester 2021. In that meeting, it was also agreed that Assoc. Prof. Asiimwe Solomon, Assoc. Prof. Norman Nsereko, and Dr. Frank Kiyiingi should coordinate the process of this publication initiative by receiving proposals from members on the themes and topics for the joint publication, and prepare the call for Book Chapters and organise for the review of papers and publication of the book. The following people are also added on as supportive team for the project to move quickly; Dr. Abaho Anne, Mr. Patrick Kachope, and Mr. Barasa Patrick.
Following suggestions and discussions of several members of staff on possible themes and topics, it is agreed that the book be published on the areas covered under social sciences, covering a number of topics that will accommodate the research interests of staff in and outside the school. It is also agreed that the process of the publication be guided by common publication guidelines for authors.
Based on the above, the School of Social Sciences is now calling for Book Chapters from members of staff on the following theme and topics:
Book Theme:
“PERSPECTIVES OF SOCIAL SCIENCE PARADIGMS AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA”
This book theme focuses on the key issues and challenge facing social sciences and of human development in Africa. The aim of the theme is to identify and interrogate more deeply the disciplines of social science and how they contribute to human development in Africa with respect to poverty, education, health, food & Agriculture, gender, social security, governance and environment. Authors are free to come up with their own topics but specify under which theme the chapter belongs.
Possible Themes:
- Introduction and Background to Social Science Paradigms and Human Development.
- International Relations & Diplomacy,
- Social Work & Public Administration
- Development & Human Rights
- Media, Journalism & Information Technology
- Psychology, Counseling & Health
- Politics & Security
- An editorial review, which mainly looks at the technical merits of the work and the suitability of the topic for publication in the book;
- Two peer reviews, which are conducted only after the paper is accepted by the editorial review team. Manuscripts will be offered for review by two experienced referees, maintaining the author’s anonymity, and the referees’ reports will be transmitted to the
