DESCRIPTION:The Nkumba International Research Conference (NIRC) stands as a cornerstone of academic excellence in East Africa\, serving as a dynamic bridge between theoretical inquiry and practical\, real-world application. \nBy fostering a collaborative ecosystem\, the NIRC doesn’t just host presentations; it catalyzes the “triple helix” of innovation linking academia\, industry\, and government to solve contemporary global challenges. \nThe United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015 and this marked a global commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which is a set of 17 integrated and indivisible goals aimed at ending poverty\, protecting the planet\, and ensuring prosperity for all by the 2030. \n  \nUniversities have aa duty to advance the SDGs through research\, innovation\, knowledge production\, community engagement\, and policy advocacy. As a multidisciplinary institution and committed to academic excellence\, Nkumba University recognises the importance of leveraging research and innovation to address\, local\, national\, and global development challenges. \nProgress toward the SDGs requires context-specific research\, cross-sector collaboration\, technological innovation\, and knowledge transfer between academia\, industry\, government\, and communities\, more especially in Uganda and across Africa. And institutions of higher learning are uniquely positioned to act as catalysts in this transformative process. \nTherefore\, the Nkumba University Annual Research Conference seeks to provide a platform for scholars\, researchers\, policymakers\, industry players\, development partners\, and students to share research findings\, exchange ideas\, and explore innovative pathways toward sustainable development.
