Academic Staff Capacity Building Training Workshop

The university management is desirous to build your capacity in competence based curriculum and
assessment. This is to enable you adapt to the new development in higher education that necessitate
continuous capacity building to meet our client demand. The contemporary trends in education in Uganda
have now dictated the next course of action for universities. The university management is in receipt of
communication from the Permanente Secretary – Ministry of Education and Sports, requesting the university
to comply with the new government policy of competence based curriculum and assessment. This has been
informed by the shift in curriculum at Ordinary level and A-levels from knowledge based model to now
competence based model. In order to facilitate smooth transition of candidates from O-level and A-level to
university education, the National Council for Higher Education has advised universities to prepare teaching
staff to adopt the new policy. In this vein the university management under the Quality Assurance
Directorate, office of the University Secretary and Academic Registration have organized a staff capacity
building workshop to facilitate the required shift in curriculum,
