Nkumba University is a private chartered University (Legal Notice No. 3 of 2007). The University in a bid to fulfill its mission and vision hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of university Bursar
1) Position : University Bursar 2) Reports to : University Secretary 3) Salary : Attractive and Negotiable 4) Age range : At least 35 - 60 years 5) Terms of service : Five Years Contract (renewable) 6) Duty station : Nkumba University, Entebbe
Key duties and responsibilities
The University Bursar is a Senior member of the Management Team. He/she is the technical officer on Finance matters including matters of income generation, utilization and accountability. The University Bursar has the following responsibilities among others:
a) Coordinate the drawing up and management ofthe University Budget
b) Maintain and Present books of Accounts.
c) Supervision of staff and management of staff performance in the Finance Department.
d) Implementation of Financial and operational management systems.
e) Maintaining and updating the university’s Asset Register.
f) Computing the value of the University’s Physical Assets.
g) Submit written reports to Management and the Finance Committee.
Education Qualifications and Skills
a) Academic Qualifications
The applicant should possess the following qualifications from reputable and recognized Institutions:
i. Undergraduate Degree in a Finance related field
ii. Masters Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration(Accounting or Finance Option) and other Finance related fields.
iii. Full Professional Qualifications in Accounting and Finance
The applicant should exhibit strengths in the following areas:
i. Leadership skills
ii. ICT skills
iii. Management and administrative skills
iv. Verbal and written Communication skills
v. Interpersonal skills
vi. Conflict management and Problem-solvingskills
vii. Record keeping and management
viii. Report writing skills
The applicant should have demonstrable abilities to undertake the following:
i. Book keeping
ii. Fiduciary Risk management
iii. Financial planning
iv. Strategic management
The applicant should possess a minimum experience of at least five years in a Senior Administrative and Managerial position preferably in a large Organization/ Institution.
