Nkumba University will mark 25 years of existence on Tuesday June 18, 2019. Activities to mark the Silver Jubilee will be launched on Thursday February 8, 2019. Among the various engagements slated for the launch day will be thanksgiving prayers as well as the naming of various buildings at the main University campus in Entebbe.

All Alumni and friends of the University are welcome to indicate their interest to participate in the series of other activities leading up to the D-day. Some of the activities will include:

• A research conference to be organized by the School of Postgraduate Studies and Research
• A showcase of women celebrating gender activities to be organized by the School of Social Sciences
• A fashion and exhibitions show to be staged by the School of Commercial, Industrial Art and Design
• Nkumba Open Day to showcase to the general public the University’s various other academic activities.
• Various students’ activities that will entail sports, debates as well as other competitions
• Outreach to the neighborhood by the Catering Department at the School of Sciences to offer cooking lessons to the community.

Prof. Wilson Muyinda Mande, Vice Chancellor, Nkumba University; together with Mr. Michael Segwaya, Executive Director, Barclays Bank, launching the Barclays ReadytoWork Students Resource Center at Nkumba University Main Library on September 3, 2018. Barclays Bank donated five (5) computers for the Student Resource Center as well as 22 6-seater library reading tables and 15 bookshelves in the drive to “empower those who empower others”. 


Nkumba University has received a ready to work resource center from Barclays Bank that will enable academic staff improve their skills. The resource center includes 11 computers, furniture, and book shelves.

Four Nkumba University students departed for Austria over the weekend on the Erasmus Plus Exchange Programme that will last them over five months.

The Erasmus+ programme is a European Union scheme for enhancing mobility of students for a rounded global education experience. There are over 4000 institutions of higher learning in 37 countries participating in the Erasmus+ exchange programme, which additionally provides mobility opportunities in training as well as for the youth.

The four students who departed for Austria on Saturday February 2, 2019 include: Florence Nabukalu (Masters in Procurement and Logistics Management); Martin Kayira (Masters in commercial Art and Design, with specialization in Architectural Design); Vincent Yamulemye (Bachelors in Tourism and Hospitality); and, Takia Nakandi (Bachelor of Tourism).

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wilson Muyinda Mande, asked them to look to the practical aspects of their programmes so as to benefit business and industry. He urged them to also appreciate the culture where they will be resident for over five months.

The Dean of the School of Commercial, Industrial Art and Design, Mr. Charles Kaggwa, who is also in charge of international collaboration for Nkumba University asked the students to be worthy ambassadors of the University.

Two other students, Diana Muhumuza and Duncan Kiggundu (both pursuing Masters in Commercial Art, with specialization in Interior Design) recently completed their tour on the Erasmus+ programme in Austria. The University has in the past hosted several European students on the Erasmus+ programme. Mr. Mohammad Reza, the Iran Cultural Attaché in Kampala, graced the occasion of welcoming the new Moslem students to Nkumba University on October 5, 2018. The function, organized by the University Muslim Students’ Association, was also attended by the Association Patron, Haji Gwaivu Twaha.
