Installation of 5th Vice ChancellorHakim Mulinde
Nkumba University shall install its 5th Vice Chancellor – Prof. Jude T. Lubega, who succeeds Prof. Wilson Muyinda Mande. Jude T. Lubega is a Professor of Information Technology who has vast experience in ICT4D. He was previously the Ag. Vice Chancellor of Nkumba University from January 2020, and formerly Deputy Vice Chancellor of Uganda Technology and Management University from 2013 – 2019. He previously served in Makerere University from 2007 to 2012 as the Deputy Dean and the Head of the Information Technology Department in the College of Computing and Information Sciences. His academic life stretches back to the 2000s where he was a researcher and Lecturer in the School of Systems Engineering at the University of Reading, UK.
Prof. Lubega holds a PhD. Computer Science from The University of Reading (UK), a Master of Science in Network Centered Computing from The University of Reading (UK), a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Statistics (Uganda Martyrs University) and a Certificate in Human Resource and Management.
He is the Chief Executive Officer for 8Tech Consults one of the leading ICT consulting companies in Uganda since 2007. He was listed among the 100 Movers and Shakers in Corporate Online Learning for 2018 in Africa. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Namasuba where he served as President 2019 – 2020.
Prof. Lubega is a consultant for various international organizations such as NUFFIC, UBTEB, UNECA, IUCEA UNESCO, and BTC among others where he provides his expertise in the areas related to ICT. He has participated in several international projects and has conducted trainings across the globe. He has been selected by several Universities both in Africa and Europe as an external examiner and has also supervised over 10 PhD students to successful completion.
He is a digital learning expert who has been in charge of formulation of several policies in such E-learning policies across the world. He has participated in developing several E-learning Systems too. He is also the coordinator of the re-known Panaf E-Network Project in Makerere University that has brought cheap and valuable education to many Ugandans through E-Learning.
Furthermore, he is an experienced ICT4D (ICT for Development) consultant and has undertaken numerous researches and projects both nationally and internationally. Prof. Lubega is a member of several boards and has won several research funding to undertake ICT4D projects.
