Bachelor Of Procurement And Logistics Management

The procurement function has a central role to play in the achievement of any country’s objectives. It is therefore a vital aspect in the affairs of both public and private sectors especially when accountability for funds and ensuring value for money, remain one of the top priorities of any economy, in order for development to be registered. This is a three years programme whose structure is shown below.

This program is designed to prepare students for careers in the procurement profession. It gives students a solid foundation that allows them the opportunity to appreciate and practice ethical procurement. Because procurement is becoming a solid discipline in global logistics and Supply Chain Management, this degree will support career growth in the logistics and Supply Chain field. At Nkumba University, this program prepares students to manage and/or administer the processes by which a firm or organization contracts for goods, services or works to support its operations

Career Path

Here are some potential career paths that graduates can explore:

  1. Procurement Officer: Procurement officers are responsible for purchasing goods and services for organizations. They may work for government agencies, corporations, or non-profit organizations.
  2. Logistics Coordinator: Logistics coordinators are responsible for coordinating the movement of goods, including transportation, inventory management, and tracking. They may work for manufacturing companies, logistics firms, or retailers.
  3. Supply Chain Manager: Supply chain managers are responsible for overseeing the movement of goods from suppliers to customers, ensuring efficiency, and minimizing costs. They may work for manufacturing companies, logistics firms, or retailers.
  4. Warehouse Manager: Warehouse managers are responsible for managing and organizing inventory in warehouses and distribution centers. They may work for manufacturing companies, logistics firms, or retailers.
  5. Transportation Manager: Transportation managers are responsible for managing transportation systems, including shipping, trucking, and logistics. They may work for transportation companies, logistics firms, or retailers.
  6. Sourcing Specialist: Sourcing specialists are responsible for identifying and selecting suppliers for organizations. They may work for government agencies, corporations, or non-profit organizations.
  7. Operations Manager: Operations managers are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of an organization, including logistics, supply chain management, and production. They may work for manufacturing companies, logistics firms, or retailers.
  8. Purchasing Manager: Purchasing managers are responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services for organizations. They may work for government agencies, corporations, or non-profit organizations.
  9. Inventory Manager: Inventory managers are responsible for managing and tracking inventory levels, ensuring adequate supplies are available for production and customer orders. They may work for manufacturing companies, logistics firms, or retailers.
  10. Customs Officer: Customs officers are responsible for enforcing customs regulations and ensuring compliance with import and export laws. They may work for government agencies, such as customs and border protection.

These are just a few of the many career paths that graduates with a Bachelor of Procurement and Logistics Management can consider. By exploring these options and conducting further research, graduates can identify the career path that aligns with their interests, skills, and goals.

Entry Requirements

Direct Entry Scheme

At least 5 passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent;

At least 2 principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.

 

Diploma holders

  1. Hold a Credit or Second-Class Diploma in the relevant field from a recognized institution as determined by the University Senate.
  2. At least a Pass (50%) in Mature Entry Examinations.

 

Mature age Entry

  1. The applicant should be 25 years of age and above;
  2. Must have passed mature age entry examinations organized by the National Council for Higher Education.

Other

  1. A certificate obtained after 2 years of post UCE study;
  2. Any equivalent qualifications besides UCE and UACE.
