Nkumba University library provides services to students, staff and other researchers. In this role, the library has both electronic and hard copies of books, journals and other forms of information. The library has a unique 24/7 service. There is a good collection of Ugandan and foreign periodicals as well as newspapers like The New Vision, The Monitor, The East African, News week and Times. The Library serves as a repository for Nkumba University publications. All these help to keep students and staff informed of current and past events.


The Library is a member of the Consortium of Uganda University Libraries (CUUL).

Library Resources

Currently the Library has 23,000 volumes of books and approximately 5,000 periodicals, journals, magazines and other documents. It has electronic journals (E-Resources) which are available to students and staff on request. In addition, internet facilities are freely accessed by both staff and students for both research and communication purposes.

The Library is being improved and developed every year to meet the varied needs of students.

The Library is  situated  near the entrance to the  main campus. There is also a branch at Kampala Campus.


To provide access to the world’s knowledge in order to promote and support the teaching, learning and research activities of the University and the community.


To plan, avail and facilitate access to a broad spectrum of information resources and services in an outstanding learning environment, with friendly and expert help.

 Services provided include but not limited to:

Reference , Circulation, Photocopying, Spiral binding,  Printing, Internet service, User education , Interlibrary loans


Both in print and non-print formats covering various disciplines


Accessed from:  a single interface to search all the databases the Library subscribes to. for:

  4. OARE deals in Environment
  5. Goali deals in Law for e-Books

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is at: for the repository where research work done by staff and students is stored.

Opening hours

Monday – Saturday : 9:00AM to 10:00PM  
Sunday 9:00AM to 4.00PM  

Closed on public holidays.

Members of the community can access the library at a small fee.
