Estates officer (Civil)
1.1. Position : Estates officer (Civil)
1.2. Reports to : Director Planning and Infrastructure Development
1.2.1. Remuneration : In accordance with the Nkumba University Remuneration Policy
1.3. Age range : At least 30 – 60 years
1.4. Terms of service : Five Years Contract renewable
1.5. Duty station : Nkumba University, Entebbe
1.6. Key duties and responsibilities
Assisting the Director Planning and Infrastructural Development to fulfil the following functions:
- To prepare bills of quantities and specifications for new works projects and maintenance
- To develop a maintenance implementation plan for the university estates
- To coordinate works on projects which are handled by external contractors
- To prepare the department’s operational budget
- To attend site meetings for different works
- To supervise junior staff in the estates department
- To liaise with procurement office for procurement of materials for works
- To ensure that plumbing systems are well laid and functional in all university facilities
- To assist the Director Planning and Infrastructure Development in managing contracts for works
- To monitor consumption of water regularly and advise management accordingly
1.7. Education Qualifications and Skills
a) Academic Qualifications
The applicant should possess the following qualifications from reputable and recognized Institutions:
- A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
- Membership to Professional Engineering Body (Added advantage)
