Karen Meixner is a lecturer at FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Austria focusing on social studies. She visited NU to strengthen FH J institutional collaboration with NU, focusing on programmes offered in the School of Social Sciences and, expanding in the context of social entrepreneurship to include programmes offered in the School of Business Administration.
Karen Meixner has a master’s degree in English and French with teacher training from the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz and a Bachelor degree in Modern Languages from the University of Durham in the UK.
She started working at the FH JOANNEUM in 1999 and since 2003 has been teaching at the Institute of Social Work with a focus on international and intercultural social work. She is also responsible for coordinating students’ international work placements.
Her current research interests include sustainable development and social work, storytelling and social work and inclusion and diversity.
Other previous work experience includes teaching English in adult education and at companies in and around Graz, teacher training seminars and teaching in secondary schools.
