Manuel Wandl is a senior lecturer in textiles at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (UAAV) in Austria, where his work primarily focuses on weaving. He visited NU in February 2025 as a researcher on an inter-institutional project involving SCIAD at NU on the innovative use of Luffa (natural sponge) to improve its economic benefits in its value chain. His expertise in hand weaving and vocational training greatly supported the facilitation workshop that the Luffa project team had with Art and Design students at NU. His academic research also emphasises the diverse approaches and methodologies found in various cultures and eras.
