Nabakira Kaggwa David

I started my career in the hospitality industry with Kampala Sheraton Hotel and then Nile Hotel Complex (currently Kampala Serena Hotel), where I gained invaluable experience in the operations of hospitality food and beverages services which laid solid base for what was to be my next career move to teaching.
My competencies also have been acquired from working at various hotels, universities and also from the extensive short course training in Hotel and Tourism areas. I worked with Kampala Sheraton Hotel and Nile Hotel Complex (now renamed Kampala Serena Hotel). I have been recognised as an Instructor in Food and Beverage Service, Hospitality Supervision and Front Office Procedures by Educational Institute of American Hotel and Motel Association.
I am a lecturer in the School of Applied Science where I have spent over 20 years rising in the ranks of University Academic setting from an assistant lecturer to a Head of Department, a position I held for the three years. Being a senior management position, I was responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating the activities in Tourism and Environment Department. In addition, I am responsible for chairing departmental meetings, preparing departmental reports and supporting the university management in general administrative duties.
I was involved with Uganda Association of Tourism Training Institutions (which represents institutions offering tourism and hospitality in Uganda) as the Secretary. I have also served on many university committees reviewing tourism and hospitality curriculum. I have worked with Uganda National Council for Higher Education to review Hospitality and Tourism Programmes offered in Ugandan Universities.
I have wide-ranging professional, technical, training and teaching experience in Higher Education related to Hospitality and Tourism. My knowledge and skills extends across many areas in which I have been involved and taught for over a decade at various Universities in Uganda. I have taught various subjects including; Business Communication, Customer Care, Front Office, Food Service, Facilities Management, Services Marketing, Hospitality Human Resources Management, Hospitality and Tourism Services, and many more. I have supervised more than 500 undergraduate students and 15 masters students.
