Mr. Timothy Ayeet Odeke was appointed Dean of Students on 1st June 2026, bringing to the office a wealth of experience in student administration, leadership, sports management, and institutional development.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management (PPM), and a Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT). His academic background, coupled with extensive practical experience, has equipped him with the skills required to effectively support and guide students in an ever-evolving higher education environment.
Before assuming the role, Mr. Odeke served as Administrative Assistant – Admissions from 2018 to 2025, where he played a pivotal role in supporting student recruitment and admissions processes. In recognition of his dedication and outstanding performance, he was subsequently appointed Assistant Academic Registrar – Admissions, a position he held until May 2026. Throughout his tenure in the Academic Registrar’s Department, he contributed significantly to enhancing admissions systems, improving service delivery, and strengthening the University’s engagement with prospective students and stakeholders.
Beyond administrative leadership, Mr. Odeke has made remarkable contributions to sports development at Nkumba University. Since 2005, he has served as Head Coach of the Nkumba University Basketball Team, overseeing one of the most successful periods in the team’s history. Under his stewardship, the team has won numerous major trophies and established itself as a formidable force in university and national basketball competitions. His passion for sports has enabled him to mentor and nurture generations of student-athletes, promoting discipline, teamwork, and excellence both on and off the court.
As Dean of Students, Mr. Odeke adopts a student-centred leadership approach grounded in accessibility, mentorship, and inclusivity. His long-standing association with Nkumba University has given him an in-depth understanding of the institution’s culture, values, and aspirations.
Mr. Odeke’s leadership philosophy is anchored in service, integrity, and empowerment, with a strong belief in nurturing well-rounded graduates capable of making meaningful contributions to society. His extensive institutional knowledge, coupled with his passion for student development, positions him to effectively champion the interests and welfare of the University’s diverse student community.
